Event description
SAP and World Scouting are delighted to invite you to the 5th edition of the Learning and Skills for Sustainable Youth Development Dialogue series, a pivotal education and skills building event hosted on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Building on the success of previous editions, this dialogue brings together young leaders, high-level guests, and participants from government, the private sector, civil society organisations, and academia to foster a collaborative environment to discuss and share experiences beyond “what young people need to do” to “what systems, partnerships, learning pathways and enabling environments help young people build, access and apply skills.”

This year’s dialogue will combine expert discussion, youth storytelling, skills showcases, and strategic partner engagement into one connected experience. We’ll also take a moment to celebrate five years of collaboration in creating spaces for transformative dialogue.

This joint event is themed Youth Skills for a Changing World and will focus on four key skill pathways:

  • Digital innovation and AI-readiness.
  • Green skills and sustainability.
  • Creative skills and cultural work.
  • Leadership, civic skills and volunteering.

Why this conversation matters

The global skills conversation often focuses narrowly on employability. This dialogue broadens the frame by recognising young people as workers, innovators, volunteers, creators, advocates, and community leaders. It asks what partnerships, systems, and enabling environments are needed to help young people build and apply skills in ways that strengthen both their livelihoods and their communities.
